Saint-Gobain Ceramic Materials awarded with Ecovadis Platinum rating in France
Saint-Gobain Matériaux Céramiques announces having received the Platinium medal from Ecovadis for Corporate Social Responsibility. EcoVadis provides the leading solution for monitoring sustainability in global supply chains. Using innovative technology and sustainability expertise. Its database counts over 90,000 rated companies in 175 countries and 200 industries. Saint-Gobain Matériaux Céramiques scored 78/100 for its Courtenay and Avignon plants.
This rating places Saint-Gobain Matériaux Céramiques in the Top 1% of the best companies to work with or for.
Four criteria are analyzed and taken into account by Ecovadis to provide ratings:
- Environment
- Labor & human rights
- Ethics
- Sustainable procurement
This award resonates with the sustainability roadmap and objectives of our businesses. Transparency on this topic is key for us, that is why we collaborated with Ecovadis as a third party deeply involved in CSR. It is even more important for our customers to be able to access this certified data. Our best score within this award goes to environment and sustainable purchasing initiatives taken at our plants.
The main ongoing or achieved projects at our Avignon plant are the following:
- Training of all employees on site on sustainability with dedicated content according to their job position (example: eco-innovation for R&D and Marketing)
- Definition and implementation of a sustainability roadmap for the 3 scopes
- Waste management improvement meetings
- Electric bikes available to allow to allow employees to use more sustainable transportation methods
- Evolution of packaging to make it more sustainable
Industry 4.0, circular economy, water management, are also key topics at our plants, which will help us renew this award for the years to come.
Tim Vitorino, Coating Solutions Business Manager, commented:
“I’d like to congratulate the Avignon team on an impressive Ecovadis CSR rating in the top 1% of businesses. They have put Saint-Gobain’s strategic vision into practice and demonstrated a strong commitment to a sustainable and socially conscious future. Everyone involved should be proud of this accomplishment and the great example it sets.”
Christophe Pottier, Operations Director Europe at Saint-Gobain Specialty Grains and Powders, commented:
“It is a great pride for us to receive the highest score from Ecovadis, which recognizes the actions taken by our plants and their commitment to sustainability and ethics.
